The heart of bavaria and the home of Paulaner: The city of Munich

The name Paulaner has stood for the highest quality and Munich beer culture since 1634. Paulaner is an long-established family-owned company in Munich that has developed into a globally thinking, modern and successful brand enterprise. The popularity of Paulaner beer has always extended beyond the city limits of Munich. The special enjoyment of beer, our highly skilled brewmasters and the famous Bavarian way of life are just a few factors contributing to Paulaner’s success – locally and internationally. Paulaner remains connected to its origins. The Oktoberfest in Munich and the annual Salvator strong beer festival are just two examples of how Paulaner keeps its ties to Munich traditions. In our restaurants worldwide we want to give you the feeling of being on a short trip to Munich.

Beer gardens, taverns and munich lifestyle

The “Mass” (liter) of beer gleams golden-yellow in the sun. Heavenly aromas of “Steckerlfisch” (grilled mackerel on a stick) and roast pork hocks waft through the air. At the next table, under the shade of chestnut trees, a man unpacks his “Brotzeit”, a typical Bavarian snack or meal consisting of bread and something to go with it, such as cheese and sausage. This is perfect summer happiness in one of Munich’s idyllic beer gardens. Paulaner creates such a piece of Bavaria – everywhere around the globe – where people of all kind come together informally, without constraint, to drink beer, eat and relax!

Oktoberfest
One of the biggest events in the Munich calendar.

Indeed, Oktoberfest has become so popular that events inspired by “Oktoberfest” have sprung up all over the world. The original “Oktoberfest", however, only takes place in Munich. It lasts 16 days during late September and early Oktober and takes place at Munich’s Theresienwiese. Paulaner is one of the six breweries who provide beer for "Oktoberfest". Paulaner supplies 9 out of the 32 beer tents at the Oktoberfest. We invite you to celebrate one of the biggest events in the Munich calendar with us in one of our Paulaner restaurants worldwide. Prost!

Salvator
Our annual strong beer festival

The strong beer festival takes place annually during Lent at the Paulaner Nockherberg, the origin of Paulaners beer garden and tavern history. It starts mid of March and lasts for 3 weeks. The period is called “The strong beer time“ or “Munich’s fifth season of the year“. The festival is associated with the traditional “Holy Father Feast”, commemorating Francis of Paola, founder of the Paulaner religious order. Beer is not served in usual beer mugs, but in robust stone mugs. With its beer garden benches, the live bands and a huge crowd of visitors, today’s “Salvator-Ausschank” resembles the pole marquees at the Munich Oktoberfest. Visit us at one of our Paulaner restaurants worldwide, enjoy our delicious Salvator strong beer and have a great time with us.
